Like the rest of America Illinois is reeling from the effects of COVID-19. As of April 1, there have been a total 6,980 confirmed cases and 141 deaths in Illinois, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health. It is my prayer and hope that we are able to find safety and peace with our families during this increasingly difficult time. As the situation continues to evolve, I wanted to provide an update on my business availability.
On April 1, Governor J.B. Pritzker extended an Executive Order requiring all Illinois residents to stay at home, effective thru April 30. This “Stay at Home” order provides that among the essential businesses and operations permitted are professional services, which includes real estate services. A summary of essential businesses and operations could be found here.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) recently added language pertaining to real estate activity:
- Open houses are not permitted.
- Showings of occupied rental units are not permitted.
- Showings of vacant or owner-occupied units are permitted, but limited to no more than 4 people.
